Who we are

Otter Tail Outfitters is located in the heart of Central Minnesota’s lake country.   Jon “Gunny” Gunderson is a local resident that has lived in both the Alexandria and Fergus Falls areas his whole life.  He has fished these waters for over 30 years and his experience can help you reduce your learning curve on many of the local lakes.  He can arrange trips for you on many of the area lakes in both Douglas and Otter Tail counties. 

Beside local waters, some of Jon’s diverse angling experience includes fishing for Salmon and Halibut in Alaska, Cutthroat Trout in Yellowstone, Lake Trout, Northern Pike & Walleyes in Canada.  He has fished for trout on the Deschutes in Oregon and used downriggers for Lake Michigan Salmon.

Otter Tail Outfitters will fish for most species but specialize in Walleye, Smallmouth Bass and Northern Pike.  In the Spring, we love to chase Crappie.  This is an excellent time to bring kids with on an adventure to introduce them to the sport.  The crappies are usually cooperative and the action can be fast with bonus bluegills and bass to keep their attention.
